The truth matters.
Sometimes brands contact me and offer to pay to be featured.
If that happens, I make it clear to them that I need to retain my editorial honesty to give my own assessment of their product. I won’t be swayed by payment.
If a brand pays, they are paying to be featured. They are not paying for me to say something good about their product and that’s not something that I would ever agree to anyway.
It means far more to me to keep the editorial freedom to give praise where praise is due, but also to point out shortcomings in certain products where they might exist rather than trying to make a few extra dollars by accepting payment to say something good.
That’s not something that I would ever do.
